Program Overview

The Rabbinical Continuing Education Program offers a dynamic weekly learning environment for ordained rabbis seeking to deepen their Torah scholarship while enhancing their professional effectiveness. Through intensive study of Gemara and Halacha, participants will strengthen both their spiritual foundation and practical rabbinical skills.

Continuing Professional Development: Equip rabbinical graduates with advanced textual and halachic knowledge directly applicable to their diverse career paths in education, therapy, social action, and community leadership.

Sustained Spiritual Growth: Provide a vibrant learning community that prevents the rabbinical profession from becoming routine, fostering ongoing intellectual and spiritual engagement.

Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Unite alumni from both Beit Midrash Har’el and Maharat, creating a rich learning environment that bridges different approaches to modern Orthodox rabbinical practice.

Program Structure

Format: Weekly in-person sessions
Schedule: Once weekly, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Duration: Full academic year (September 2025 – June 2026)
Location: Beit Midrash Harโ€™el, Ohel Nechama, Chopin 3, Jerusalem
Cost: NIS 350 per participant monthly

Curriculum Focus

The program centers on in-depth Talmudic study that traces Jewish law from biblical sources through rabbinic interpretation to modern application, exploring the theological foundations and practical relevance of Torah teachings across multiple tractates and topics:

  • Marriage and Personal Status Law – Study of Tractate Kiddushin covering marriage laws, personal status, testimony, agency, and honoring parents
  • Monetary and Commercial Law – Examination of Tractate Bava Metzia focusing on property disputes, lost objects, fraud, and financial ethics
  • Festival and Ritual Law – Analysis of Tractate Pesachim’s Seder laws plus year-round observances including shofar, fasting, sukkah, Hanukkah, Purim, and Temple-related fasts
